This 50 mile out and back course is in the midst of the breathtaking Colorado Rockies. The lowest point is 9,200 feet with the highest point being Hope Pass at 12,600 feet. The majority is ran on forest trail with some mountain roads. Pacers are allowed after the 50 mile point. Five videos have been produced by Mt. Elbert Video that shows the Leadville Trail 100 race from various standpoints. Select from 1985; 1987; 1988, 90-minutes; 1993, 120-minutes; or 1994, 120-minutes, with both biking and running; to witness that year's race activities. Course records for both men and women were set in 1994 and are held by Juan Herrera, 17:30:42 and Ann Trason, 18:06:24 respectively.
