The host of this DVD is University of Tennessee Assistant Track Coach Norbert Elliott. He believes that key components to this event include flexibility, speed, explosive power, and coordination. You will learn how to combine these ingredients into effective progressions for the teaching and coaching of the hurdles. Start with a dynamic warm-up routine which incorporates A-skips, B-skips, high knees, fast lead leg and fast feet drills similar to those of sprinters. Next is hurdle specific technical instruction with the use of "wall drills". Additional drill progression for moving over the hurdles is illustrated. Coach Elliott concludes with starting block drills to help the athlete reach the first hurdle in eight steps. Throughout the presentation are several techniques, tips, and drill alternatives to allow the instruction to be effective for any level of athlete.
