Filmed in Canada under director Jason Reitman, this is a compassionate story of a 16 year old girl who wants to give her baby up for adoption. Juno, played by Ellen Page, becomes pregnant by high school runner Paulie Bleaker, and then must navigate this very difficult situation. The running found in this film acts as the backdrop which helps show the passage of time as the seasons, and status of the pregnancy, change. Sure, the running outfits are odd by today’s standards, yet these are the type of uniforms that appear in past year books all across the country. Enjoy watching the Dancing Elk track team run in a group, as well as some touching action and dialog at the track. Juno has been nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. This album was released by Rhino Records in January 2008, while the film was still playing in the theater. If you listen to the last track, "Anyone Else But You" performed by Michael Cera and Ellen Page, you will hear the foot strikes of the Dancing Elk track team as the film comes to a close. This song by The Moldy Peaches inspired the rest of the selections on this soundtrack and in the insert notes by director Jason Reitman you will learn more about how they filmed this closing scene.
