This 46 minute tape was originally broadcast by the History Channel in 2000 and was released by A & E Home Video in 2001. Hosted by Arthur Kent, he covers nine of the most controversial moments of the modern Olympic games. Olympic Historian David Wallenchinsky offers much insight into the context and events of many of these situation that are discussed. The first segment is the 1908 Olympic Marathon where there was the finish line protest over the assistance of Dorando Pietri. Next, the stripping (and later reinstatement)of the decathlon gold won by Jim Thorpe in the 1912 London games is examined. Other athletes who competed in running events included Babe Didrickson, Eddie Tolan and Ralph Metcalfe in the 1932 games, Jesse Owens from the Berlin Olympics, and lastly the collision between Mary Decker and Zola Budd in the 1984 women’s 3,000 meters where Decker states her impressions to the fall at the 1700 meter point of the race.
