Texas repeats as the Women’s national champion and Arkansas continues its dominance of the Men’s, leaving behind other great programs like Stanford and LSU. The RCA Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana hosted this event for the past 11 years with the 2000 venue going to Arkansas. Men who won individual championships in running events included Leonard Scott (in the first year that they held the 60 Meter Dash), Coby Miller, Ato Modibo, Derrick Peterson. Bernard Lagat in both the mile and 3,000, Brad Hauser repeating in the 5K, and Terrence Trammell in the 60M high hurdles with a meet record 7.52. On the women’s side the event winners were Debbie Ferguson, Peta-Gaye Dowdie, Suziann Reid, Hazel Clark in a meet record time of 2:01.77 for 800M, Kate Vermeulen, Carrie Tollefson, Leigh Daniel, and Joyce Bates.
