George Mason, lead by coach John Cook, won the Men’s competition this year, and LSU won the Women’s side of the action with Georgia in second. For the Patriots, the victory finally broke a run of twelve consecutive championships by Arkansas. For the Tigers, it was their fourth consecutive championship and part of eight titles in eleven years. This telecast was originally broadcast from the RCA Dome located in Indianapolis, Indiana and the following runners claimed the top of the podium: Tim Harden, Darius Pemberton, Obadele Thompson, Greg Haughton, Einars Tupuritis, Julius Achon, Ryan Wilson, Jason Casiano, D'Andre Hill, Kim Carson, Debbie Ferguson, Monique Hennagan, Kristi Kloster, Joline Staeheli, Melody Fairchild, and Marie McMahon.
