Some fine teams such as Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, and Florida all gathered at the University of Texas for this year’s Championship competition. In the end it was Arkansas winning on the men’s side, the first of eight consecutive titles for Coach John McDonnell of the Razorbacks. The lady Tigers of LSU, coached by Pat Henry, continue on the women’s side making it their sixth of eleven consecutive national titles. Winners this year are Olapade Adeniken (100 & 200m), Quincy Watts in a meet record 44.00 in the 400m, Jose Parrilla (in his first of three 800m titles), Steve Holman, Marc Davis, Jon Dennis, Sean Dollman, Mark Crear, Dan Steele, Chryste Gaines, Dahlia Duhaney, Anita Howard, Nekita Beasley, Sue Gentes, Monique Ecker, Kim Saddic, Michelle Freeman, and Tonja Buford.
