Here is event coverage from February 11, 2005 Powered by Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville Arkansas. This event proved to be an outstanding meet with eighteen-year-old LaShawn Merritt posting the third-fastest indoor 400-meter time in history when beating Bershawn Jackson and Andrew Rock in 44.93. Bernard Lagat ran the third-fastest time ever in the men’s mile and was ahead of world record pace through 1200 meters. High hurdle ace Allen Johnson took the men’s 60 meter event in world leading time (7.51) while Danielle Carruthers won the women’s event over Jamaican Michelle Freeman. Other winners include Hazel Clark in the 800, Jason Smoots in the open 60, Alistair Cragg in the 3,000 and Wallace Spearmon of the University of Arkansas in the 200 meters.
