This is the January 2005 television broadcast of the Reebok Boston Indoor Games that contains a remarkable world record in the women’s 5,000 meters as 19 year old Ethiopian Tirunesh Dibaba runs the distance in 14:32.93, nearly seven seconds faster than the previous record. The men’s mile featured seven finishers under four minutes with Laban Rotich setting a new meet record of 3:53.18 ahead of Bernard lagat. Alistair Cragg took the men’s 3,000 over Kenenisa Bekele who appeared to misjudge how many laps remained. American winners included David Krummenacker in the 1,000 meters, Muna Lee in the 200, Jason Smoots in the 60, Danielle Carruthers in the 60 meter hurdles, and in the high school mile Aislinn Ryan defeated Nicole Blood while Leaf Barnes won on the boy’s side.
