You may have read in a book or heard the story of the first Olympic marathon race. Now is your opportunity to watch a reenactment of the events that led to Spyros Louis being crowned the first marathon victor of the modern games. Released in 2004 by Alexandros Film of Greece, this 45 minute production is largely in English and under the direction of Yiannis Smaragdis. The actors include Alberto Fais, Evita Zimali, Kostas Delakouras, and Adonis Adoniou with musical score by Dimitris Papadimitriou. The DVD is divided into four chapters: In the beginning there was light, Before the marathon race, The marathon race, and Glorification. With a clean and simple presentation you will be guided through the background and times of the Olympic revival and how the marathon helped the Greeks regain their lost pride and the games to continue into the future.
