This 52-minute documentary was released in 1980 by Sports Video of Woodland Hills, California. The focus is Lasse Viren and his training for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games. Watch the Finnish policeman return off an injury as he runs extremely high mileage to try peaking for his third Olympic performance. Although he finished 5th in the Moscow Games in the 10,000 meters, he was in the lead with 400 meters and showed his greatness by running his heart out. Viren is the only man to win both the 5,000 and 10,000 meter track races in consecutive Olympiads, 1972 and 1976 (where he set both Olympic, 13:26.4, and World Records, 27:38.4). Although the commentary is running throughout without any direct interviews from Viren, the 1980 Olympic race is highlighted by a nice surprise of classical music. Viren is also featured in the Olympiad Series by Bud Greenspan as one of the The Magnificent Ones.
