| Notes | |
| Results | The above listings reflect what has been determined to be the best marks set at Lincoln High School based on all time Oregon State Meet and PIL District performances. In addition, marks captured since the 2005 season appear accurate. In order to make these records complete, an extensive review of additional sources, such as past newspaper listings and school year book reviews would be helpful. Corrections and additions are always welcome. |
| Missing Records | The OSAA does not have meet results of Oregon State competitions held in the following years: 1932, 1934-1947, 1949-1950, and 1952. Results shown were obtained from The Oregonian Newspaper. |
| Relays | Relay teams qualify one time for each season in each of the two events: 4x100 & 4x400. Although 4x200, 4x800, 4x1600, Sprint Medley and Distance Medley are occasionally held, they are infrequent and not currently included in Oregon State Meet competition so are therefore not included in these listings. |
| Javelin | Two Records are recorded to reflect the differences between the original Javelin implement and the "New" Javelin that was introduced in Oregon in 2000. With the center of gravity being moved 4 centimeters forward it created an increased downward pitching moment resulting in less distance, more safety, and easier measurement. |
| Abbreviations | a= FAT, or Fully Automatic Timing. This standard has been used in the state meet since 1975 and at PIL district meets. c= Converted time. If a hand time, rounded up to the neareth tenth and then adding .24 seconds. h= Hand timed, used to reflect the actual official time prior to 1975. w= Wind aided, likely only recorded during state competitions. |
| Conversions | Races conducted in yards prior to 1978 were converted using the Hoffman Track Calculator. Distance races of Mile and 2 Miles were converted to 1500 meters and 3000 meters results. |
| Corrections | Changes, additions, and corrections are all welcomed to make these listings the best possible. E-mail mark(at)runningmovies(dot)com with the subject line of "LHS Records" to get these listings updated. Many thanks! | Top of Page |

| Melanie Batiste | |
| Melanie was Lincoln’s first outstanding female sprinter and competed in the state track meet in 1975 and 1976. She won two state titles: the 220-yard dash in a time of 25.37a seconds and as the anchor on the 4x100 team that posted a 48.00 mark, a school record at the time. In addition, she placed second in four other events over that two year period. Melanie went on to compete at the University of Oregon and while there she recorded personal bests of 11.77 seconds for the 100-meters in 1979, and 23.66 seconds for the 200 meters in 1980. At the national AIAW Meet she helped Oregon’s mile relay teams to 2nd place in 1979, 1st place in 1980, and 3rd place in 1981. In 1980 Melanie advanced to the semi-finals in the 200 meter US Olympic Trials. In 1994, U of O inducted her into their Hall of Fame for her outstanding achievements. | Top of Page |
| Art Boileau | |
| When Art left Lincoln in 1975 he had the school record in the 3000 meters and had placed 6th in state that year. The PIL inducted him into their Hall of Fame as a three sport athlete having competed in cross country, wrestling, and Track. He continued to mature as a runner and blossomed in the marathon event. Art was born in Edmonton, Alberta and represented Canada in two consecutive Summer Olympic Games, 1984 Los Angeles (44th in 2:22:43) and 1988 Souel (28th in 2:18:20). Art won the Los Angeles Marathon twice (1987 and 1989) and earned a 2nd place finish behind Rob de Castella in the 1986 Boston Marathon with his fastest time to date, 2:11:15. Art now enjoys cycling and triathlons and is a coach of the West Vancouver Track & Field Club. | Top of Page |
| Marie Davis | |
| Marie competed for Lincoln from 1992 to 1995, setting many records along the way. Each of her four years she ran both the 1500 and 3000 meter event at the state track meet, never finishing less than third. In four out of the eight races she took the top spot on the podium and with her 9:53.59 3000 meter time she is still in the top 10 all-time for Oregon. In 2006 the PIL inducted her into their Hall of Fame, and the University of Oregon also followed recognizing her All-American status and PAC-10 3000 meter title there. The Lincoln Alumni wrote a nice article on Marie in their 2006 newsletter. Marie currently teaches elementary school and continues to train, race, and be involved in athletics. | Top of Page |
| Ronald East | |
| Ron was a three sport athlete at Lincoln and earned 4th place honors at the state meet in 1961 where his javelin mark was top 20 for US high school competition with a throw of 189' 9 in the finals. He later attended Montana State University where he was the 1966 Big Ten Javelin Champion. He spent 10 years as a lineman in the NFL for several teams and played in the 1971 Super Bowl (his son was born during that game) for the Dallas Cowboys. Ron is in the PIL Hall of Fame and more about his football career can be read at wikipedia.org. | Top of Page |
| Jim Grelle | |
| Jim defended his state 880 yard run title in a State Meet Record time of 1:58.0 while wearing a Lincoln singlet in 1955. The previous record time of 1:59.9 was set in 1950 by Al Martin of Cottage Grove. As a top miler in the United States, in 1962 he became the 4th US miler to break 4 minutes, see complete US Sub-4 list. Jim continued racing under Bill Bowerman at the University of Oregon after finishing high school. He received numerous honors including NCAA champion, AAU champion, Pan-American Games, and placed 8th in the 1500 meters during the 1960 Rome Olympic Games where Peter Elliot set a new world record. For a nice summary of his running visit OregonStars.com. Grelle has been inducted into the following Halls of Fame: PIL, U of O, and the Oregon State Sports Hall of Fame (only Lincoln track athlete to ever obtain this honor). Personal Bests: 800 – 1:48.4 (1958); 1500 – 3:38.9 (1964); Mile – 3:55.4 (1965); 2 miles – 8:25.2 (1966); 3 miles – 13:43.4 (1967); 5K – 14:10.8 (1966). | Top of Page |
| Connor Kavanaugh | |
| Connor competed in Track & Field his junior and senior years at Lincoln. He was well known as a passing and rushing quarterback prior to racing the oval around the football field. In his first year of track he lowered his 300 hurdle times from 45 to 42.34 seconds. Remarkably, he once ran down a fellow competitor by taking 13 steps to the last hurdle after 15-stepping the earlier barriers in the race.
